COMMUNITY: Neighborhood Chipper Program

Neighborhood chipping is a go for May, for the first four weekends of the month, plus Memorial Day Monday.

This great program depends entirely us pitching in not just our cleared brush but also an easy couple hours at the chipping field.

Shifts run no more than 2.5 hours, 8:45am through to 4pm, and it’s social, fun, and did I already say easy?

If you’ve benefited from this event in the past, please look at signing up for one round at the gate—sign up a friend to come with you, or expect to meet someone interesting to hang with for a little while.

GUIDED AVTIVITY: Wildflower Appreciation Afternoon

Last year during the end of May, wildflowers were bursting along the North Ridge Trail, luring pollinators, songbirds, and human appreciators of beauty. Will the blossoms be as prolific and impressive this year? Come find out! Join Interpretive Specialist Katie Renz and Docent Naturalists Marie Faust Evitt and Alison Hurst for a leisurely-paced (but hilly), out-and-back hike. You’ll zoom out to take in ocean views while also zooming in to study the small parts that make up the center of the flower. You’ll learn about basic botany, pollinator syndromes, and some plant names but, beyond identifying, you’ll have an opportunity to practice deeply looking. Hiking poles and a snack recommended; carpooling encouraged as this parking area fills quickly on weekends.
