Community Operations Coordinator/FOH Lead
The Loma Mar Outpost, a nonprofit community store and café, is looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join us as Junior Community Service Specialists (FOH.
The Junior Community Service Specialist (FOH) supports day-to-day front-of-house and community operations to help ensure the Outpost provides a welcoming, friendly, and community-centered experience for all guests. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys working with people, and is interested in gaining hands-on experience in customer service, café operations, and community-based work. The Junior Community Service Specialist works under the guidance of senior staff, contributes to a positive team environment, and supports service standards that reflect the Outpost’s mission and values.
This position requires a commitment of 10-25 hours per week and weekend/holiday availability. Applicants must be over 17 years of age.

Front of House & Guest Experience
Support daily front-of-house operations to ensure smooth guest service
Greet and assist guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner
Operate Square POS for sales, refunds, and to-go orders
Perform barista duties, including operation and daily care of espresso equipment
Bus tables, run food, wash dishes, and restock FOH supplies as needed
Support a clean, organized, and welcoming café and store environment
Staff Support & Learning
Learn and follow established service standards and operational procedures
Take direction from Senior Community Service Specialists and supervisors
Participate in training on POS systems, safety procedures, and customer service
Support smooth operations during busy service periods
Facilities & Safety Support
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe front-of-house and outdoor guest areas
Assist with opening and closing tasks as assigned
Maintain FOH equipment (espresso machine, refrigeration, POS systems) as trained
Report maintenance or safety concerns to senior staff or management
Community & Program Support
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and community-focused atmosphere
Support community programs, workshops, and special events through set-up, service, and breakdown
Provide basic visitor orientation and assist with general guest questions
Support resiliency hub operations during outages or emergencies under staff supervision
Qualifications
Interest in customer service, hospitality, or community-focused work
Friendly, professional, and comfortable interacting with guests and coworkers
Reliable, adaptable, and eager to learn
Comfortable working in a public-facing, fast-paced environment
Ability to follow instructions and accept feedback
English proficiency
Reliable transportation
Minimum age of 17
Compensation
$17.95/hour + depending on experience
